FRequently asked questions

What is one token equivalent to?

One tasting token is equivalent to NZ$2 - most wineries have wines available for tasting for one token.

How many tokens do I need for one session of Winetopia?

Each entry ticket includes $10 worth of tasting tokens and more can be purchased at the Token Bank and the Information Desk during the event.

Is water available during the event?

Yes! Water is available free of charge from water stations around the event, at every winery stand and at the Information desk.

Can I pay with cash or credit card during the event?

The official currency for Winetopia are tokens - 1 tasting is usually around 1-2 tokens. You can use cash or credit card to buy bottles/cases to take home, or purchase more tokens.

Can I refund my tokens?

We unfortunately do not offer refunds on tokens. Please do not go crazy and buy lots of tokens just before the end of the event. You can donate any you may have left over to Make-A-Wish New Zealand.

Are the events wheelchair accessible?

Yes! Both Auckland and Wellington events are wheelchair accessible.

Is Winetopia child-friendly?

Winetopia is strictly an R18 event.

How long is a masterclass and do I need to buy tickets in advance?

All masterclass tickets must be purchased in advance alongside your GA /Premium entry ticket. A masterclass ticket alone will not get you into the event so please purchase an entry ticket too.

Covid-19 Coronavirus

No escaping it - there is a new lurgy out there and we all need to be vigilant to try and prevent the spread. The risk in New Zealand is consdiered low, but we will be practicing "safe eventing" regardless.

Safe Eventing - the best advice available from the Ministry of Health website is to keep surfaces clean and sanitized (something we will be hot on at the event) and wash hands and use hand sanitiser frequently. We will have sanitiser available throughout the events as well as good hand washing facilities at the event bathrooms. Of course, coughing or sneezing is best done into your elbow, but we are asking that if people feel unwell on the day, that they do not attend the event - ticket holders can send us a message and we will happily offer a credit towards a future event (or refund with a doctors certificate). Stall holders can get in touch to talk through the options.

If you have concerns about anyone at our events then please let us know immediately. Our onsite medics will be able to attend to anyone who may seem under the weather to give them care and remove them from the venue if necessary.

NZ = Low Risk - as per the Department of Health advice, the threat in New Zealand is currently considered low and we believe that this is definitely true of the Winetopia community - who are a smart bunch and we expect will take our Safe Eventing advice seriously.

If it gets worse here? - if for any reason the Winetopia events needs to be rescheduled due to coronavirus, then following the advice of the Ministry of Health, we will work with our venues to reschedule a new date. Tickets and stand bookings will be valid for the new dates.

This being said, we expect all events to go ahead as planned and look forward to seeing all our Winetopia community in May (Auckland) and June (Wellington).
